Immersion w/ Jess and Sarah

Last week with Jess and Sarah we did Dance and Drama. Jess was in charge of drama and Sarah was in charge of dance. The first session we had was with Jess we  played a game where you stand in a circle and you  would do a random thing like from shooting guns to making a cup of tea. Like if I was making a cup of tea the next person will come and say "what are you doing" and then I will be like I am riding a unicorn and the person who asked would have to ride a unicorn. At first I did not get it and then it was a piece of cake

6th Immersion with Chris/Amy and Jono

Today for immersion group 1 and 6 got together. We went to the playground (again) and did mainly what we did on a first session with Jono. We looked around a wrote ideas on what we want for our school for the big kids. Grace. R, Rhiannon and I took photos and came back. The teachers want us to think of ideas outside the box like a tree house. I wonder what we will be doing tomorrow.

Last week with Chris we interviewed people about what colour they liked what theme they wanted and what equipment do you want. We then made a pie graph using that data. What are we going to do on Thursday?

This is my 3rd session with Chris we used the info from Wednesday and drew/use Tinkercad  and created a drawing on a playground. My theme was Harry Potter because I love reading the books and watching the movies.

Bruce Mason Centre

Yesterday, we went to the Bruce Mason Centre to have workshops about  how to perform and watch some performances. When we came into the building we had a talk and then we got to pick if we wanted to act or help backstage. I picked to help be backstage. The first thing I did was tell the children when to come on the stage. I did not really have a big job, but I saw how to work other things.  (Witches and children) (Halloween)

We then tiptoed  to watch Nicole's tag list do their acting, which was cool  from a different perspective and the lights and effects of lighting danced across the stage. It was really cool.

After watching the performance from Nicole's Tag list we had lunch and dashed upstairs to watch a dance performance.  It was different, but good because it had different.  After the dance, we got to try playing with the equipment.   Overall,  I enjoyed my time there and I'm excited to go again.

4th Immersion w/ Nicole and Helen

15/9/17

Today with Helen and Nicole we were looking at history and our question was why is history important to remember We looked at photos which  are from the New Zealand History and order them and the year it was in.  I got in a group with Awatea and Rhiannon and made a Doc writing the orders and researched about the pictures. Helen gave us like 10 minutes to complete our research which we never finished it, but worked on it while Helen was explaning the history but it was hard to understand because the person kept on shouting out the answer all the time.

The Signing Of The Treaty Of Waitangi - Between English and Maori
  1. Year (1840) 6th of October
  2. The treaty was to make peace between the English and the Maori so each Maori and English leader walked up and signed the piece of paper

3rd Immersion w/ Max

12/9/17

Today with Max we have been looking at art and have been talking about Tiffany Singh helping us with art next to the cafeteria. He said she likes to put a lot of colour and that she likes to do other cultural stuff. We also watched apple video celebrating making their  Ipods ad put people  dancing in years. Can't wait to see what we do with the silhouettes.

14/9/17

Yesterday with Max we were looking for things that were important at Hobsonville point Rhiannon and I picked Pukeko because it was a native bird. We cut it out and putted it on a white paper with black drawing and then the other side but around.

15/9/17

Today we were talking about important people having faces and famous. We also made stories with our drawing (Pukeko)  which we looked at facts and sent it to him.

I wonder what the cafeteria will look like when it is finished.🤔

2nd Immersion w/ Liv

7/9/17

Today with Liv we went to the high school, we were taking photos of signs (posters as well) and looked around, we didn't really do much and we came back to school.

11/9/17

Today we there were  printed signs from the high school on the table with pens and sticky notes. We had to write down on the sticky notes what we think it means and what it looks like. Then we looked at images and a checklist (sort of) and checked if there was like  movement, contrast and more. I'm excited for the next immersion lesson because the teacher said that have a photo of someone in the school and we can photoshop them/you.

12/9/17

Today we didn't get to use the  photoshop app to photoshop because not everyone had it on their  device (ME!) so we looked around our school and took photos of places where we could put signs (blank spaces) and then when we came back we made a word cloud using the website Word Cloud using the school values and words from the school website.

THE NEW CLASS ROOM!

On Friday it was Teacher's  only day  so the class got a day off. When we came back to school on Monday (today) the class looked so much different. There were like 6 mini table for two with two chairs for the  people in supported  and there were more full license people like jasmine, Christealla, Maya. C, Lelani, Troy. J  and more.

The other thing that the teachers told us was the lots of people have been asking to listen to music while working and they said that if we make a contract  having reasons and explaining why and we get our parents, the teachers and the child's signature you could.

I'm excited for the next teacher's day only to see what will change.

Immersion w/ Jono

Related imageToday we had immersion with Jono we were focusing on designing/ making a  new playground.  The teachers orgainsed the group to go to a nearby playground and write down what we liked about it, what we didn't like, what we can add and ideas.  Then we came back and we  did our follow up was to look at our playground and play games to try out the stuff. (Fun follow up) excited for our next immersion workshop.

4/6/17 (Monday)

5/6/17 (Tuesday)

Image result for tinkercadToday we created an account on Tinkercad where you create anything using objects we had to think of one thing and try to create it, I created donuts because I love the donuts in our school playground. While Group 6 (my group for immersion) was working on Tinkercad Jono sent a fidget spinner creation on Tinkercad to the 3D maker and created a fidget spinner which does not move and the bearing were out I can't wait for what we do with it on Thursday!

7/6/17 (Thursday)

Today Jono told us that he will be printing 1 or 2 of our creations on Tinkercad. He said that we need support for it because it will just fall, he showed us an example by using 2 whiteboard pens as holders and paper on the top. He first printed Amy's Design which will take 8 HOURS! And he said that there is a problem. So he is starting it again and glued the bottom so it sticks. I wonder who he will pick for the second one- if there is.

Adventure Park Trip

On Friday,

The whole class went to the adventure park in Silverdale. When we came we had a talk with a man telling us about the area, how things work and of course the rules.

The first thing I did was go on the down hill  luge where you control a type of car move yourself left and your car will go left. And if you hold down on the right handle you can break the car, on my first turn I crashed 2 times in the mud which was embarrassing. 😯 I didn't want to go on the luge because I didn't want to embarrass myself again, so I went on the Tube Slide which you go on this inflatable circle thing an you slide down the tube slide the first time I did it, I liked it because I got scared but then I did it over and over again and got a little tired of it.

There was a Zipline and a shooting star, but you had to be 40 kgs or over but I was under. So I went to 7D a 3D house were you pick what topic you want. Grace.R, Rhiannon, Siobhan, Ameliya, Jorja and I picked ghost

Overall, I think my favourite part would be the luge and the 7D house.

Linc-ed Comments Literacy

This term we did lots of reading and writing  for projects. Some things I did in in reading was reading the instructions and reading books to find the science concepts for my slime and Lava Lamps. For Writing I wrote my script and Wrote words for the YouTube video. My favourite from reading and writing would be writing the script as I got to use my imagination and add drama to it.

Linc-ed Comment - Project

For Projects in term 3 the class got to decide if we wanted to to Learn-it, Prove- it  or Teach -it I did teach-it for teach-it you find an experiment and show the science behind it and the concept and then post it on YouTube my science concept was investigating the physical properties of a material will not result in that material being changed to another substance. I picked to do slime and lava lamps which are fun and have science in it. During the process of recording Siobhan and I  had some trouble along the way like if we could be seen or not, lighting or the problem I thought was the worst was that we did not read the instructions properly. Next time we will read more carefully and be more organized and I would have liked if we had more time. This was one of my favourite projects.

Gym Kids

Today the year 6's had to do Gym Kids, Which in my opinion was okay. We first started doing warm ups like motorbike and then we then we did rolliepollies and handstands.

Afterwards we got split up in 2 groups. The group I was in, we did dive rolls, handstands, icecream scoops on the beam and  bars and the other one was: dive rolls (again), cartwheels, high jumps over something and volts.

It was okay i'm excited for next time.

Maths W/ Amy

This term for maths I am in Amy's algebra group, we have been learning about different rules in algebra. I enjoyed the algebra lesson.

I think this is a perfect level for me in maths, it is challenging and interesting!

Project Process Comments

Today Amy told us we have to do 3 literacy workshops and that we were meant to do a comments workshop with Amy on Linc-Ed in our comment we had to have / do they :

Do They

  • Share what you can do/has achieved
  • Indicate next step and goals and what's happening to meet them?
  • Include what you feel/think/behave
  • Make suggestions for what could be done at home to support learning

What
happened
We describe the activity
We talk about what learning happened
We add in next steps
We add in details
We add photos and videos as evidence

Here is my comment

Slime Making (Finally)

For projects Siobhan and I were very scared that we will not manage our projects because someone (Siobhan) forgot to bring the borax but surprisingly Nicole bought some for another group and allowed us to use some. The recording took some tries, but when we got up to how to make it we were pros.

The slime worked out really well. Siobhan is kinda like butter slime/ fluffy (did not do intentionally) and mine is fluffy slime/origanal. We are now up to the part of editing our video and I am so excited to show you guys.

Cross Country Practice🎽

Today Amy gave us some "Really good news" that there is going to be cross country coming up this term in week 6 Week 7 or Week 8 she said that the teachers have been talking and said we should start practicing for the practice we have 3 different courses there was walking course, running course or competitive course the walking is one lap same with the running but the competitive one is more than 1 lap (LAPS)  I picked running course, because it won't be easy, but it won't be hard.
I can't wait for tomorrow.

Japanese with high school students

On Monday some Japanese students came to our school for our Japanese lesson.

The first thing they did was they read us two stories, they were short but well written. The first story was  about a girl named Princess Kaguya and the second was called Peach Boy. In both stories the drawings were amazing

Next we got to watch japenese student who was a blackbelt, preform some karate moves which were impressive.

Then we got to do oragami, we made an origami crane and a ninja star. They were both fun and challenging to make.

Trust licence

On the first day of school Amy gave us a big surprise, she told us that our  trust license are all wiped out and we are changing how it works.

This is how it works now

No Mans Land:

This is what everyone is on now we are all allowed to move in LC7 and have to ask one of the LAs  to go to do a breakout space or go to a breakout space with a device and is not allowed to go into LC5.

Supported

You have a certain place to sit and is not allowed in LC5 and can not go into a break space without asking. And go on devices without supervision if you are sitting in the certain place.

Trust licence

You can go anywhere in the school, but you need to ask the teachers you can go to LC5 without supervision and can take a device anywhere.

✎ Project Process

For project Siobhan and I are working on the scripts for our experiments. We have add the the science behind it and how to make it. We are also working on our plan for what the maths, literacy,  intial idea and many more.

Were having workshops with Amy on what the the main porpuse is and will be having workshops on the layout, editing adding music.

A few tablespoons of Vegetable oil, Water, food colouring, salt, jar

6 cups flour, 2 cups salt, 4 tablespoons cooking oil, warm water, plastic soda bottle, dishwashing detergent, food coloring, vinegar, baking dish or another pan and  2 T baking soda

egg, bowl and vinegar

1 cup of warm water, 1 teaspoon of borax, shaving foam, glue, hand soap, cornstarch,

Script↓

Both: Hi Everyone!

Anjani : Welcome to our science   experiment video!!!!!!!

Siobhan: In This video we will be making homemade lava lamps! The concept of a lava lamp is basically taking two ingredients, in this case water and vegetable oil, that aren’t usually supposed to mix and putting them together. these are the ingredients you need for this experiment:

Anjani:  Vegetable oil, water, food coloring, salt and a jar or bottle to put it in, but jars work better.

Siobhan: So here’s the method to do it:
First, pour the Water into the jar/bottle.

Anjani: Pour in some food colouring of your choice
Then  pour a few drops of the  vegetable oil.

Siobhan: Since the oil is sitting on the top, We have to make it move down throughout the lava lamp.

Anjani: Sprinkle some salt onto the mixture and the oil will start to move.

Siobhan: Up and down just like lava. ( SIOBHAN STARTS SHAKING HER HAND WHILE HOLDING THE LAVA LAMP

Both: Bye! Thanks for watching!!

Immersion w/ Jess and Sarah
